Default fed up with acne... HELP!!!? - 05-28-2008, 01:15 AM

So i have a problem. I'm in 7Th grade, and I have reallyLyad acne. like not just little zits and blackheads, but pimples ALLL over my face. I wear foundation to cover it up, and it does a pretty good job. I haven't had super oily skin before, but now that its getting hotter, suddenly my face has so much oil on it!!! I have no idea why this is suddenly happening! it never happened any summers before! and all of that oil mixed with foundation, concealer, and powder is creating acne EVERYEHERE!! so now im wearing even more make up, and im scared that someone will notice. I just want my skin to be smooth like it used to be back in 5th grade or whatever. If anybody has a miracle, please tell me! i really need it! oH, I forgot to mention that currently i am using neutrogena skin id in the morning, and clean and clear scarring night cream with clean and clear spot treatment at night. And I'm also prepared to spend some money if it means clear skin. and please dont tell me something thnat only works for mild acne like teatree oil. and i have gone to a dermatologist, but what they prescribed me just made my face break out more and gave me really dry itchy flaky irritated skin.

Around your age, hormones are raging in your body. This can cause HORRIBLY oily and acne prone skin. Neutrogena Skin ID is supposed to be used alone, as other products can work against it. I am in 8Th grade, I use Skin ID, and my skin is pretty much completely clear. In 7Th grade I got horrible acne. To keep my skin clear, I splash it with cold water morning and night and pat it dry. After school everyday/4pm, I use Skin ID. I recommend that you retake the Skin ID test if you haven't within a couple months. Your skin may have changed quite a bit by now. Also, something that is extremely underrated: DRINK WATER! I used to drink soda or tea all the time, but now I force myself to drink a very large cup of water 3 times a day. I know, it doesn't seem like something that would help, but it has made my skin SOpooch better. No more bad acne Good luck, I know what you are going through.

the reason why you didn't have this problem before is because you are going through puberty which is when you start to get acne. your hormones are the reason why your skin is so oily.

there are a few options available. you could go back to the dermatologist and tell them the other medication didn't work. they could suggest something else for you to try. people have different reactions to different products so they should have other solutions available to you. if you are willing to go to a dermatologist to begin with you should go back and discuss this with them because they have dealt with these probably more then anyone on this site.

I'd recommend Acutane because my brother went on it and it worked for him. I'm not sure if you need to be a certain age to go on it or not i think he was around 15 when he went on it. if you do go on octane make sure you read the leaflet and are aware of the side effects because in rare cases the drug has made people suicidal.

you might also consider looking into proactive or something like that. i don't know anyone who has used it I've just seen the ads and the booth at the mall so you'll want to read up on some reviews.

also, do some research on skin care on line. there are a lot of tips i could give but it would make this too long (for instance - keeping your skin moisturized with a water based moisturizer because if you use too many acne products on it without moisturizing after it will dry out your skin which will cause it to produce more oil). also, this video by Michelle Han about eating foods that help your skin night be helpful

Drinking plenty of water, eating healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains, exercise may help some. Also try not to touch your face and keep your hair out of your face. I tried all kinds of things when I was your age, finally a nurse told me to try Dial soap (the regular gold liquid kind) and it really helped a lot.

Hi, I'm actually suffering the SAME problem as you. Fortunately my acne is quite under control now.I'll only be getting a few pimples during my 'period' and my scars are gradually diminishing. I also have always dreamed of clear good skin. But too bad for us. Acne is NOT a condition you can treat. It will reappear again and again if you don't take care of your skin properly. The only way we can do is to prevent them from reappearing.

'Prevention is better than cure'

I also need to wear makeup to cover those leftover scars. I can never leave my house without it. I just feel insecure with my flaws! So, I'm currently fine-tuning all of my skincare and cosmetics products to those that are made up of natural derivatives ingredients. I'm currently using a natural foundation formulated with beneficial ingredients for acneic skin to help cover and treat my problem too. Maybe you should try that too.

BTW, I've read before that those OTC and even prescription medications only solve your problem temporarily but they never target the root cause of it. Thus, its better if you could find a more natural solution.Just a tip, look for those with aloe vera as bases. They'll do wonders for your skin.

Hope this advice helps you in a way.
Good luck!
