Default What more can I do about my allergies? - 06-09-2008, 12:58 AM

First of all, I'm not even certain that I have allergies, but I am damn confident I do. I have had post-nasal drip for 4 months accompanied by frequent sneezing.

I've tried Zyrtec, Benadryl, and a Neti Pot. No luck.

So I went to the doctor.

He prescribed me a corticosteroid called flatcars propitiate. Again - no dice.

So my question is; what is there left that I can do? This is infuriating.

FYI: I also clean my room every few weeks and I got air filters running 24/7.

go to an allergist, or have your doctor refer you to one. the allergist can test you for allergies, usually through a skin-scratch test. you would then know what you are allergic too. have you tried Claritin or Allegra? you may need an antihistamine with a decongestant in it, which can be bought over the counter, but you would have to ask at the pharmacy counter.

when was the last time your furnace filters were changed? dust and debris from dirty filters can be recirculated into the air when your air or heat comes on.

OK well go to an allergy doctor they can test you and see what if anything you are allergic to... i had it done and was prescribed Rizal it was the best medication i have ever been given... also while air filters can be great they can weaken your immune system because even though your house has all these nice air filters to cut down allergens once you go outside you are exposed to everything in the world therefore your immune system can be overloaded making things worse!!!

hope this helps!!

Hmmmm, my son has tons of allergies, food and environmental. He's on singular everyday and Zyrtec when needed.

However, what's been helping him the most is working on his immune system. Strengthening it. Keep this in mind as your searching for relief. Hopefully you'll find something, but you won't be cured unless you fix the underlying problem.

You can read my story (I kept it short) and what we're doing for my son below...

Your personal doctor may tell you what to do for it. Try to keep yourself away from things which cause you allergy..

If you eat or touch onions and you break out in a rash or suffer from stomach upset or bloating, you may have a food allergy or intolerance to onions. Symptoms related to onion allergy can include hives, itching, bloating, cramping, gas, nausea, diarrhea and headaches. Preventing allergic reactions to onions requires avoiding them altogether.
