Default Any quick home remedies for asthma/shortness of breath? - 07-26-2009, 06:07 AM

Every night I feel as though I'm suffocating, like someone is sitting on my chest. I can't lay on my back (not to be perverted, but I'm a DDD and it just puts more pressure on my chest), I can hardly breathe on my side, and on my stomach its the same as being on my back. Its terrifying, but I can't afford to go to the hospital for it, and I don't have time to go to the doctor during the day because I work lots of hours. Anyone know of anything that helps, something I would have at home already?

I had a similar problem. This is what I did.

* I stopped drinking milk. (WNW.notmilk.com)
* I did a 10 day fast (WNW.curezone.com)
* I sleep on my stomach with a body pillow.
* I use a humidifier with Eucalyptus Oil.
* I use a steam inhaler about once a week.
* I don't use any alcohol, drugs or tobacco products (never have)
* I don't use any prescription medications any longer.

I went from several asthma attacks per week to about three in the last three years.

It seems alto like you might be stressed out and that's causing your shortness of breath. I have a phobia that causes me too get short of breath sometimes when I'm in a crowded place or something and the only solution that really works is just changing something. For example if at night your getting shortness of breath, if it's from stress..try too relax more in the evening before bed...or maybe listen too relaxing sounds..just try too relax...AND NO SMOKING

I know what you are saying, I have asthma and a large chest so it becomes hard to breath laying on my back. The easiest way, well the only way for me to sleep is on my right side because there is less pressure that way. Anyways, I don't know about a quick fix, and truthfully don't think there is one, but if you can not afford doctor bills (like myself) or do not have the time to go I recommend doing yoga. The breathing exercises help make breathing easier so sleeping and physical activities become easier to breath while doing them. I'm not saying start going to costly classes? everyday, just invest in a yoga DVD so you can do in your spare time.
Hope that helps you out some!

"Other possible causes of asthma in vulnerable individuals include allergic reactions to dietary substances like wheat, dairy products, chocolate, nuts, preservatives and other chemical food and beverage additives."

I can vouch for this. I had severe asthma when I was young. I stopped having dairy, and the asthma went away. Its been 16 years since.

I don't know of anything at home, but you may want to order this for your next discomfort: http://www.nativeremedies.com/asthma-natural-treatment-biovent.html

You may want to consider weight loss. Eat right, do excessive, engage in spirituality, take a substantial Miltie-vitamin, consider a fast for a couple days or week to get you started - here's what I generally recommend: (juice fasts or lemon/Stevie/cayenne/water are usually good to flush out anything that is flooding your system.)

If your weight is ONLY in your chest, which for some odd reason I doubt, and if weight loss doesn't help, consider reduction by surgery, but take precautions, and you may want to prevent bacterial infection prior and after wards with: grapefruit seed extract, cayenne pepper to stimulate circulation and aid healing, Olive Leaf Extract. Source: http://www.seeknatural.co.uk/category-NA.html. Antibiotics will generally cause an upset stomach and interfere with intestinal flora.
