Hi, I'm really sorry to hear that take a look at this link it has loads of info http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Cancerinformation/Cancertypes/Lung/Lungcancer.aspx I hope she's OK x
Got lung cancer 5 years ago, i had a lung resection ,which is just cutting out the infected part( 1/2 of one lung), i was in and out of hospital in 4 1/2 days, i was 45 at the time so not that young and then i had chemotherapy for 3 months and have been clear ever since. i started going out jogging and exercising and now my lungs are in better condition than when i was 30, i did smoke for 30 odd years but not since the surgery, so there is hope for your mum, make sure she does what the docs say, chemo is brutal but works,or it did for me so good luck and god bless
Hi Hun, I know how you feel, My mom was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer on October 6Th and she passed away on December 9Th. There are different kinds of Lung Cancer, Small Cell is worse then Non Small Cell. My Mom's Cancer had spread to her Breast, Stomach, and Brain, as well as other parts of the body. She did a round of Chemo and Radiation, But everything happened to quickly that nothing really worked as well as we had hoped.
It is important that your mom goes to the doctor and gets test done, I believe that my mom knew something was wrong with her before she decided to go to the doctor.
I Hope everything works out okay, I completely understand how you feel, my mom was my life and I miss her more then anything.
Good Luck Hun, If you ever need to talk feel free to e-mail me!

Smoking is the major origin of lung cancer disease whereas 15% of persons with the disease have not ever smoked. The risk of lung cancer disease rises with the number of tobacco smoked and the age of the smoker. Little cell lung cancer is normally treated with chemotherapy which enables the persevering to live longer with better command of the symptoms.
