All surgery is risky. It is impossible to say how well your mother-in-law will be after treatment. Certainly during treatment she will be very poorly. After treatment you can help her practically by researching diet (juicing is best) and meditation techniques etc..Her best chance of recovery, outside what the doctors propose, is to have a loving and supportive family who are not afraid to face her disease. You are clearly the most loving daughter-in-law - in this she is blessed.

Yes uterine cancer can be risky, most cancers can be. You are not giving any information to be able to answer your questions. In some circumstances nothing more than surgery is needed. The 5 year survival rate ranges from about 85% to 8%.

You really need to find out what specific type of uterine cancer she has. Some move quickly with a poor 5 yr prognosis, and some move slow with a good 5 yr prognosis. Some cancers will be treated with hormones, some not, some Dr's want to take the uterus out immediately, some will leave it in to house radiation pellets and help protect other organs.Wait to find out what type, and stage/grade, then ask us again with the info so we can give you a better answer.
