how common is it that 15 year old girl gets high-risk levels of cholesterol?

articles and people have not been too clear about what happens when a teenager gets extremely high cholesterol. i am 5'3 and 15 years old. as soon as i found out i needed to be medicated, i went home and checked the nutrition facts for the foods and fluids i consume. everything i eat has little to no cholesterol. i rarely eat out and i do not like fast food. up until about 2 years ago, i was always very slender and in good health. but then i began taking a vast plethora of medications that made it hard for me to work off any weight i gained, as well as making me tired, sluggish, and hungry. i have become overweight, but have managed not to break the 200 mark. now that i know how extremely high my cholesterol has become, i cant seem to find any information on how high cholesterol affects someone as young as myself. can someone help me with this dilemma?

Cholesterol doesn't always go with weight. It often is genetic or some peoples' bodies absorb more cholesterol than others. It is actually pretty common, but not always medicated. Try drinking those drinks that are meant to reduce cholesterol. They helped my parents somewhat. Good luck.

It can happen. Its sometimes hereditary.

Go to the doctor and take care of yourself.
