I would appreciate a link to any credible website that explains what happens when some one suffering from depression doesn't receive treatment. I don't need your answers, as this is for a paper, I simply need a link. I'm not asking because I don't know how to use google, I'm asking because I can't seem to find this on google. First person with a good link gets best answer.

2. Depression prevents one from living their life to the fullest. It makes people worrying everything in the life, interfering with their normal and happy life.
3. There are physical effects from untreated depression as well. People who are experiencing depression and don't seek treatment may open themselves up to illness. When the mind is stressed, the body's immune system does not function properly, as a result, they will be ill and have trouble getting over the illness.
4. Sleep deprivation is another bad effect of untreated depression. The human body actually requires rest to recharge the body and mind. However, if people ignore the depression, not only the body is going to start shutting down and malfunctioning, but also the depression symptoms is going to get worse.
5. People who suffer from the depression don't seek professional treatment but self-medicate. When they feel down, they attempt to get over the depressed feeling by consuming alcohol and illegal drugs. Finally, the situation becomes worse, and it may lead to extremely bad aftereffect.

Untreated depression may cause diverse effects. The effects could be short term or long term and they will affect you physically, emotionally and even socially. Short term effects can turn into long term if they are not treated early enough. There are different types of this condition and each type has different associated effects which may range from mild to severe.Long term effects are characterized by persistent depressive symptoms that may last for long depending on the severity and your age. They could last for more than two years in adults and about a year in children and adolescents. Some of the long term effects include unrelenting sadness, anxiety and feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness. Untreated depression will lead to mood problems and negative thoughts that may last for years or even an entire lifetime if not treated,Sexual problems such as erectile dysfunction in men and menstrual problems in women are other effects.

If a person did not take treatment of depression then patient will became mad or attempt to do suicide. Because in depression person feel alone, helpless, hopeless and always think about negative thinking.

depression can lead to serious health problems if untreated. The thing is that depression is not like any other disease that can be treated with medications and then you're fine. You are the one who decides whether you want to treat it.. it's matter of willingness and determination to fight it as it is an internal emotional and mental state and you are the only one (with the support of other) who can get you out of it
