Hello,
HCG, human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone produced during pregnancy first by the embryo and then the placenta. This hormone basically nourishes the womb by the food the mother digests and transfers to the fetus. In rare cases, hCG can also be produced by cancerous tumors.
The hCG diet works on two major principles: hCG consumption via injections or drops and a very low calorie diet. The diet is a high protein, low carbohydrates and low fat approach to eating. There are certain foods that are allowed to be consumed and many that are not allowed.
