Default Can listening to the same songs over and over again lead to mental retardation? - 12-19-2008, 12:29 PM

My mother keeps playing the same ridiculous songs over and over again while she's working out, (she only got one CD and thats why she keeps playing the same stuff) and she sings along. This has been going on for about six months, and ever since I notcied that she's getting increasingly thicker every passing day.Can listening to the same music all the time lead to stupidity or mental retardation?

maybe it's actually just making you smarter... and she only seems dumber relative to you?i think you should force yourself to keep listening to the cd for another 6 months and see what happens

I doubt it can lead to mental problems, but you should try making your mom a new CD. Or if she doesnt want to change, maybe put some of your music on while shes around so that she can hear new stuff, or try having a converstaion with her about this band you think shed like, etc, and maybe she'll be interested. Good luck!

hell no!! what! I listen to the same songs because i find them motivating when i exercise and the beat helps me keep going. unless she is listening to it literally 12 hours a day i dont think its going to harm her!!

no - not to actual mental retardation.though repeated music, 24 hours a day, is a form of brainwashing, maybe even torture.
