Default Is the damp rainy weather affecting your arthritis and Fibromyalgia? - 03-16-2008, 08:46 PM

It is really affecting my use of the computer. I overdid it about 4 days ago when it was pouring rain and now I am paying for it. An hour a day is my limit and I pushed it too far.
We are having very unusual weather, this is a semi arid region and we have had almost a week of rain, with 1 hot sunny day. My Fibromyalgia has really flared up, it hurts to pick up the TV remote or answer the phone ! I know a lot of you have had cooler damper weather than usual if you can believe the TV news. Is it affecting your ability to get around and do things and raising pain levels?
Today we had blue skies and sunshine and while it didn't get "hot", it was nice and I could feel the difference. I made it out to the store to do some grocery shopping.

I have family members with both conditions and they say it definitely affects their condition drastically when its raining.

Florida has had none-stop rain all week. My arthritis is not affected by the weather. Arthur is always there as a reminder he hasn't forgotten I'm here! Sorry you are going Thur a bad time right now. Better days are coming.

Weather does not affect mine either way. It hurts all the time. I do not have Fibromyalgia but I have Polymyalgia Rheumatica. I also have arthritis.

It's been unusually cool and wet for several days and I'm definitely feeling it.

We have had two solid weeks of rain, thunder and an occasional tornado and my arthritis and Fibro are driving me crazy. So Yes, I do not like this dampness.

It is well documented that changes in the weather can have a profound effect on fibromyalgia sufferers and this is my own experience too.

For 16 years, I lived in the sub-tropical Canary Islands and there, the pain of fibromyalgia really only badly troubled me if we had really severe rain or stormy weather, or if I seriously overdid things.

Last year I moved to the UK and with the cold, damp climate, I'm in pain 24/7: it's relentless and unbearable. I've spoken to many other sufferers here who all say the same and that warm, dry climates help.
