Default Does fibromyalgia cause these symptoms? - 12-16-2009, 08:34 PM

I have been told that I have fibromyalgia and my question is what symptoms do they cause really?

I have numbness and tingling in my feet and legs.
My legs/feet go numb to the point that I cant move them sometimes for hours
My arms hurt all the time, and it is hard to even fold laundry or to pick up my 1 year old daughter!

I have several other issues as well but I need to know if these are symptoms of the fibro?

My body hurts everyday and im sick of the pain. I have 3 small children and its like torture to stay awake with them every day and honestly it makes it hard to even want to stay alive. I suffer every single day and the pain is horrific most days. My arms even hurt typing this dam message.

My husband doesnt understand and expects me to cook, clean and take care of the kids even when he is home.

If I am having a hard tome one day the house will go from clean to disaster within a couple of hours when he is home and I have to clean it and its freaking horrible.

Im sick of suffering and being in this pain.

I also have an enlarged liver and high liver enzymes and we dont know why.

I dont smoke, drink or do drugs so were trying to figure it out.

I was also working out everyday and the trainer had told me that I need not to do it so much. I was just going on the treadmill and lifts weights a little bit as well as doing zumba only once a week. Doing this for 2 weeks caused me to go into extreme pain and made it hard for me to even move for 2 weeks. I force myself to clean every single day as I can not stand a messy home. I force myself to play with the kids(as hard as it is)! It is honestly so bad that some(most) days I feel as if I just want to give up!
I was told that I had ms for years and then it was lupus. Now its fibro but I was refered to a neurologist and after doing a shock test and a mri he said I had neither. This same neuologist told my sister that her AVm Vain of Gallan was fine and that she will survive no problem until she dies of old age. Toronto hospital that she deals with said that he is crazy and they just recently gave her radiation to try and shrink the avm. I have now been referred to a rhumatologist to investigate the fibro or if it is something other then this.
I dont comsume any diet products. I have a friend who was diagnosed with ms and for years she suffered until she ended up in a wheel chair. Then about 2 years ago someone had told her that they heard that consuming diet products can cause so many problems. She drank diet soda and stopped and within 3 weeks she began to walk again and has been doing great ever since. Flook or not who knows but she is walking and much happier now.

I would get checked for lupus. It has the same symptoms of fibromyalgia but it affects more. It is an autoimmune disease that enlarges the liver.

My sister has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and lupus from a rhematologist by an ANA test..I don't know exactly what it means but I found this website that might explain that test.http://www.lupus.org/webmodules/webarticlesnet/templates/new_empty.aspx?articleid=402&zoneid=99

My other sister was diagnosed with MS years ago and takes all kinds of medicine for it. I was diagnosed a year ago with graves disease...all three of us have autoimmune diseases. lol what are the chances?

I also have a cousin who was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes about 30 years ago and is now having a horrible time.
My sister with MS was diagnosed after she had an attack. It caused her to have a migraine and blindness for a short period of time. She was very young..like in her 20's. they found the MS "cell" in her eye fluid. I don't know anything else about it. I know she takes shots for it and pills daily. I forgot to mention that she had scarring on the brain.

Autoimmune disease like lupus, thyroid diseases and Multiple schlorosis tend to run in families..my uncle and his daughter on my moms side have MS and on my dads side thyroid diseases. It's just weird.
Does anyone in you family suffer from an autoimmune disease like diabetes, lupus, graves, ms??

I have an uncle that is a doctor. I was told I had fibromyalgia too. He told me that fibromyalgia means "muscle Pain" and is what doctors categorize people that they don't know what the problem is. I always wonder when I read stories like this, because I went through a similar pain time period lasting years, if you are consuming diet products. Such as diet sodas, sweet N low. I know a lot of problems stemmed from that. I went out jogging and while doing so, my right foot fell asleep. It would just feel like it was numb. My toes would go numb or my lower back. or just one or two finger tips. I hurt all the time too, to the point where I couldn't work. I stopped ingesting any diet products for like 2 years. I got a lot better. still have some problems but not like before. Good luck

I have Fibromyalgia -Vitamin D3 supplementation has cleared the constant muscle pain. I did high levels for 3 weeks & was pain free. I knocked the dose down to 2000Au's a day & a week later the pain was back. After restarting high levels, the pain is managed again after 3 days.

I personally did 35,000IOU per day for 2 months trying to refill my stores. It is highly recommended that you have your Vita.D levels tested but my research shows toxicity only at outrageous, long term levels.

I originally did B12 injections daily for a couple of years & then I tried givensnesings.Amand's protocol) for 10 years but discovered Vita.D3 supplementation last year & that has worked better than anything else!

Vitamin D3 is not a vitamin at all but a necessary hormone that effects the immune system & nearly every aspect of health. Having low Vitamin D levels greatly increases risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, MS & being deficient can create or greatly exacerbate health problems.

The prescription vitamin D supplements are the wrong type (exclusivelyrILl As warned by the National Institute of Health -

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17023693

Luckily you can buy vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) over the counter and the upper limits are extremely high. Current recommendations are for 35iu per pound - a 150# person needs minimum of 5250iu per day & the rda is 400iu. This amount is for minimal needs and does not account for depleted stores. March is when stores are at their lowest.

Vitamin D3 deficiency is becoming an epidemic. U.S. RDA are much too low. It is possible that upper atmosphere pollution is blocking the needed UVB light from the sun.

I also highly recommend a low carb way of eating to allow the body to regenerate rather than degenerate.

Dr. Joe Prendergast, an endocrinologist /diabetologist has managed over 1500 diabetic patients and, in the last decade, not one of his patients has had a stroke or heart attack. Only one has even been hospitalized! His secret?50,000 units of Vitamin D3 daily. Dr. Joe further reports:

* Reversal of advanced coronary disease
* Reversal of advanced lung disease, avoiding a lung transplant!
* Cure of multiple sclerosis
* Cure of amotrophic lateral sclerosis
* Regression of rheumatoid arthritis
* Improvement in allergies
* Control of many cancers including prostate, breast, colon, brain tumors, leukemia, myeloma, etc
* Reversal of osteoporosis
* Prevention of influenza
* Cure of depression and many other mental disorders
* Hashimoto?s hyperthyroidism

In summary, the evidence for safety and remarkable efficacy of Vitamin D3 suggests that virtually ALL adults should probably take 50,000 units of D3 daily. This is certainly true for those with virtually any illness.

You need to see a rheumatologist. The first thing you need to work on is sleep. People with fibromyalgia do not sleep properly, because that are always in pain. Bad sleep increases the pain and this increases sleep problems. Pain killers and sleep medications are needed. I also find that hot baths in Epsom salts before bed help. Depending on where the pain is, shots into the pressure points may help. Pain in the arms, legs, hips, and shoulders is normal with this. Many people with fibromyalgia also have rheumatoid arthritis.

You are going to need prescription pain killers. Many over-the-counter pain killers harm your liver with over use. If your doctor gives you a sleeping pill (hopefully Ambien), do not take it every day. I take it 5 days a week and skip it on weekends. If you take it every day, it will lose its effectiveness.

Also see if there is a support group near you. You may find that it gets a little better when the weather warms up. Cold temperatures and fibromyalgia is a bad combination.

look up Lyme literate MD

what you describe can be many things..FMS is one of them...

have you been to a liver specialist? even if you don't know why--could it explain some symptoms?

AA shock test/MRI can't rule out FMS

i know someone that has a rare autoimmune liver condition..i don't remember what it is called

troddenNEs better than sleeping pills
