I have been off quite ill with a fibromyalgia flare up. Do you know about the disease -

This has been the worst 2 months I've been through in a long, long time. A very full body fibromyalgia flare up.
Please, If you know of any ways to help me, I need to hear about it.

Until this last flare up I was getting weekly deep tissue massages. I'll get those started again.
I definitely need to vacuum, but it is one of the things that hurts my back, knees and legs. I take short walks when I can. This last bout created intestinal problems among migraines and others.
I've heard that water therapy can help. You go to a place with an indoor pool and do exercises in the pool because it is less stress on the body. Does anyone know about this?

in fact i do unfortunately there is no cure all for your condition, but exercise (which trust me i know is the last thing you want to do) is probably the best thing for it, some people also report finding special treatments like acupuncture and some physiotherapy helpful as well.

I too have Fibromyalgia. Currently there is no cure for us. I use muscle relaxers and pain killers on especially bad days. But exercising does make me feel good too. Doesn't have to be strenuous, just a short walk or vacuuming should help. Do not sit all day, feeling sorry for yourself, you'll eventually give up on ever feeling good. A good soak in a hot bath at the end of the day helps. Massages even help, some insurance companies have even started covering massages for medical needs! My mother in law, who also has fibril, has done acupuncture and physical therapy. Hope you get to feeling better soon, I know how you feel!

I had a friend a few years ago who found massage helped to reduce the pain- although at first it was rather painful. The anticipation of the pain produces a great deal of tension which makes the pain worse it seems.
My friend has kept up the massage and also uses muscle relaxers as sparingly as possible- pain killers only during the worst bouts.
She is better off than she was ten years ago, but still has flares without warning. Very brave and persistent lady.
Very tough disease.

It pains to hear that.
I`m helpless but understand the pain you `re experiencing.
Maybe, do all, meditate to channel the energy flow for a miracle, swim to get tired for better sleep and also light exercise.
I pray for you as Tori to share your pain. cheer up.

I have an injury that causes the same symptoms and pain as fibromyalgia.
One of the horizontal bones of my spine fractured and broke off, damaging and exposing the nerves
that affect the right side of my body. There is no surgery that can be performed, so I live with pain
every day. I will be on pain medication the rest of my life. If I move or stretch the wrong way, I have muscle spasms in my right leg, foot and toes that can last 20 minutes. It affects every part of my body that has nerves (which is everything)on my right side and causes severe headaches. I'm never without pain, but medication takes the sharp edges off and softens it down to where I have learned to live with it. I cannot work and there's not a single Govt program that will help me. People have no idea the suffering that fibromyalgia causes. As of now, you can only treat the symptoms.

My grandma had fibromyalgia for about 20 years, and I believe her sisters showed some of the symptoms as well, along with a couple of second cousins. I always wanted my grandma to try water therapy, but she didn't want to be seen in a bathing suit. I have heard you can do water therapy even if you are wearing sweats. It would be worth the risk, if it were me. You might want to ask about the temperature of the water, and also how much chlorine is in the water.

Mornin Tori, I'm so sorry but good to see you back. It's about nerve endings in muscle tissue is about all I know of the disorder. If I apply the water theory to water, like a pool or spa, I know our bodies become more buoyant, but exercising in water I'm not sure how it might effect in inner body. Actually like tr yin to run or tread water in water is harder than walk in. Now if one applies the basic notion like in a regular type of muscle strain, that alternate cold and heat are supposed to help, it's like cold reduces swelling, heat creates more blood flow. But I'm not sure if either would work in the disorder. I'm not a Doc or physical therapist, but I sure hope some thin works well for you.
Have you ever considered the possibilities of Acupuncture? Yoga? I'm just say in. Exercise usually irritates muscle tissue, at least. Hugs you. I'm gonna try prayer.
