My son passed away last March and I have had grief counseling. We all went through alot in our family to try and prevent this from happening. We have an article coming out in the newspaper to try and help others with our story. Family being together for the holidays is so precious. He was 33.

My twin died when we were 20. I found talking to others to be helpful. I also wrote an article about my experience and I share it every year with others on our birthday. (I've been told it helps others needing to grieve.)The best thing is to allow yourself to grieve. But not for too long. The thing that helped me is realizing how upset my twin would have been if I let her death ruin my life. So I gradually started living again. I'm still sad at our birthday, her death day, and holidays. But I try to hang on to the positive memories.

I am really sorry for your loss.We all deal with grief differently. I need to cry and talk about it while I know people who will not say a word but still suffer as much.I also try to think about the good memories I had with that person and the good times we spent together. We cannot bring our loved ones back (and I would love to do so) but we can look at their life and what they accomplished and what we did with them.God bless you and time will help you with your grief. You will not forget but you will feel more at peace with yourself. My thoughts are with you.

face grief... deal with it however you need to ... counseling is great for some and for me writing is my outlet and comfort... there are many things you can do to remember him... do a picture collage and allow yourself to love him through remembering him... but i would suggest doing it with someone you love and who respects you in your grief. i am sorry for your loss. i have three sons and i can't imagine loosing one... i respect you and i encourage you to go forward and have no regrets... no blame and never ever any guilt... i am a believer that when it is our time it is our time... if it were not time it would not have happened. take care of yourself.

Talking about the relief process of grief, I would suggest perform Meditation. A vital and close relationship is there to the curing process of meditation. Actually Grief, Joy, Happiness, Anger etc are the essential part of our mento - emotional energy. I have read this on the book of 'Patanjali Yoga Sutras'. Patanjali was the greatest yogi of the ancient time. In his book he wrote that via immense practice of meditation we can beat the entire over - controlling attitude of our mento - emotional energies. We can achieve the controlling power on our self emotions. Then only we can face our grief properly. Trust me, I have also own this.

Its a process. Sometimes, what we believe affects how we process and deal with grief. The best way to deal with it is I think to remember that life goes on, no matter how hard it may seem, it will still go on.

I can relate to how it feels losing someone very dear & close. I was grief stricken when I lost my mother & then my father, five years apart. Being introvert & of a sensitive nature, I felt the grief very deeply.

What I found useful were two things: praying & sharing. Praying is for seeking strength to endure and sharing is to open up to some one and recount the moments spent with the departed.

It is better not to hide emotions and to cry or sob if that is what it causes. The phase in which the intensity of attachment of the former soul & spirit has to pass. With passage of time, the realization comes that it is the way of Nature and we have to continue to play our part in this world.

Hope you will overcome the phase soon.
