They barely acknowledge these diseases in the Vet hospitols. Why join the services to never be covered by insurance or government acknowledgement?Of course they do not join for acknowledgement, but when they fall, our government SHOLUD help them pay the bills........Jim G - Most infected veterans of Vietnam are NOT being treatefd for this with out a long drawn out legal fight. SORRY, but who are you?

Yes.I think it is a bit sad how governments talk up the whole"serve your country"bullshit and then dont provide people with proper equipment, and are quite happy to use you as a guinea pig for science experiments and nuclear tests.A disgrace. It is not just vets who get less than satisfactory health care... it is poor people, elderly... I sometimes wonder whether we are really civilised at all.

Not only used in the Gulf War but Vietnam as well. My dad served there for the Australian Army but no compo for him either! What about all the psychololgical"wounds"that many of our soldiers have bought home with them from all conflicts.

Not everyone is as fortunate as you to be able to afford a lifestyle they are used to. Working in the services is a way for them to gain respect and make a living.

The VA does acknowledge Agent Orange and is treating Veterans for exposure. I am being treated and compensated for my presumed exposure as well. I also understand that they are now treating and acknowledging Gulf War Syndrome too.People don't join the military to get insurance or government acknowledgement. They join to help preserve the rights and freedoms that you enjoy today.

Agent Orange was utilized in'Nam to expose Charlie.Doesn't apply to the Gulf War: no dense forests that serve as cover for the guerrilla terrorists. There's probably more to this problem than meets the eye. Maybe mysterious veteran diseases have a different causes.Would the democratic government and the medical establishment be such terrible liars: To disavow any causal relationship between exposure to"mysterious chemical substances utilized in warfare", and the so called veteran diseases? I've checked out reports in newspapers and documentaries on TV. Questions remain. It doesn't seem to make sense. I'm not trying to defend the government and the medical world here. It's just that the victims'spokes people's claims sound like a lot of phony baloney sometimes.Marines cannot expect to be safe when they go into war. There is PT SS.And yes, they should enjoy better benefits after they've served. If they deserve, like war heroes. Sometimes it seems they deserve dishonorable discharge, or even court martial.
