Default When will Gulf War vets stand together and express our rage of Gulf War syndrome? - 12-28-2008, 07:43 AM

I've suffered for years...I was told"it's all in your head". Now what? I've watched my friends suffer also. I think it's now time to fight back!Definition of Gulf War SyndromeGulf War Syndrome is the name given to a variable combination of psychological and physical complaints experienced by veterans of the Persian Gulf War.Description of Gulf War SyndromeIt began in Indiana in early 1992, when soldiers in two reserve units that had fought in the Persian Gulf war began to suffer a puzzling array of symptoms. Some became unusually fatigued, and others said that their joints ached. They experienced headaches, rashes and hair loss, and their memories occasionally failed them. In some cases, the symptoms were severe enough to require hospitalization.Of the 697,000 veterans who served in the Gulf War hundreds, and then thousands, of veterans began showing up at hospitals run by the Department of Veterans Affairs with these and other symptoms. Eventually, 10,000 veterans asked for physical examinations to see if they had what has come to be called Gulf War Syndrome. The sequence of events leading to the identificExperts say such problems begin with real suffering that is often dismissed as psychosomatic - or, to use a more contemporary counterpart,"stress-related."Among complaints of this sort, the ones closest to acquiring status as recognized diseases are"sick building syndrome"and"multiple chemical sensitivity."I was with 2nd armor division (FWD)

Sadly, our government doesnt give a damn about our troops. Its just a bunch of greedy politicians sending our troops to fight wars based on their own agenda. Our government is going to help you just enough to keep the public outrage low. The governments treatment of soldiers has been pretty f*ckin pathetic.... sorry about your ocndition.

I hear ya. Me too. Give George Bush Some Credit. He opened the door for Vets Like us to get help. Hope that Obama Does Not Cut the Funding! A Lot of my friends died because of it! It's self help and Hopes that you get a Doc from VA that understands the illness itself and not write you off as a nut, giving you a bunch of pills that only mask the symptoms. It's Not all in Your head. It attacks the Immune system first and can affect thinking temporarily. You are going to have to change your eating habits and possibly everything in your home or apartment. You cannot come into contact with formaldehyde, amonia, pesticides, petroleum products and the List is Endless! Think about what Soldiers and Salrs have to use and work with it.There is Help for Males and Females alike Contact the Human Ecology Action League. The CDC now acknowledges it and so does Veteran's Administration. Some Health car professionals are coming down with it after coming into contact with Vets Returning from the Gulf. You can File for Disability Benefits at VA.

Senator Jack Reed is a big champion of Veteran issues. Congressman Langevine as well. Reach out. Thank you all for your service, my heart goes out to all of you. My husband is a Viet Nam vet suffering from all the cancers of agent orange, diabetes, liver damage.
My son, 15 his dad served during the Gulf War, disabled 30% for it. Our son has almost all symptoms his father does. I need help for my son.
