It is the same name: I work in the medical field and we run testing on this all the time. Hepatitis is the type of testing and C is as specific as you can get. It can be refereed to VIRAL HEPATITIS C; HCV; HEPATITIS C VIRAL; It was originally called NANBH which meant Non A and Non B Hepatitis Because they didn't know what it was. In 1989 they began to call it the Hepatitis C Virus.
