I am a beginner runner and have started running for about 6 months.Lately, the joint between my right hip and thigh feel hurt. It is not exactly painful. It hurts the most when I lift my leg up. Strangely, it does not hurt anymore after running for a while. Then, the next day, it hurts again in the morning after 1 night sleep. I have tried to rest for about 3 days not to run. The pain goes away. But, after I start running again, the pain comes back. I know I probably should see doctor. But, my HMO insurance does not let me select any doctor specalize in sport. My primary physician simply tells me not to run. That is not the solution I want.Does any experience runner out there ever have such problem? What is it? I am training for a race in Feb. I don't want to stop running. The pain only limited to my right hip joint. My thigh is alright. It hurts more when I lift my leg up. Pressure it down does not hurt much.
IT Band inflammed maybe, its tough to tell. Does the pain radiate down you leg at all?I would think that your issue could probably be cleared up by a better stretching regime and maybe some form fitting shoes.Look up IT Band online, look at the symptoms and see if that matches your issue. Also there are stretches dedicated for those muscles/tendons you can find loads of them online.Try runnersworld.com they have a injury analyzer that might help.
Sounds like the ITband, get a foam roller, lie on your side and roll back and forward until you find the pain spot. It will really hury, but the pain is good for it
