It's a sexually transmitted disease. Most GYN's test for it now with the same swab they use to do your pap smear. There is also a blood test. Most of the time there are no symptoms.

This is a sexually transmitted disease. Other wise known as Genital warts (flat bumps in your private area). Teenage age girls can get the HPV vaccine. There isn't a vaccine for boys. This does cause women (unknown why the factor) having a higher chance of getting cervical cancer but its not always the case. The only way to screen for this is by getting a pap smear. There are no tests for boys. http://cancer.about.com/od/hpv/p/hpvsymptoms.htm

hi HOV is always contracted thought sexual intercourse no it doesn't have any symptoms it is a virus and is quite harmless and usually clears up in most people and you never know you have had it but it is the virus that most cervical cancers are caused by and most woman who are sexually active will have the HOV virus inside them and it causes no problems at all this i why it is so important to keep up to date will smear test. The best way to protect yourself is to use condoms so please stop worrying. Hope this helps.
