Default Are there any ways to detect infertility without having to go to a Doctor? - 12-20-2008, 09:01 AM

I've been booted in the testicles repeatedly as a child (was bullied for the majority of my school life, put in hospital a few times) and I'm unsure of whether or not i'll be able to have children.I just wondered if there was any way to detect infertility/sterility without having to go to the doctors?Consistency in semen perhaps, mine seems to clear after a while which i assume isn't a very good thing.Would appreciate help with my problem.

If you're in the UK I think you can buy kits in Boots - they deffo test a woman's fertility - you might take a look at the Boots website to see if it states. Otherwise, there is bound to be something you can buy as there are lots of tests for woman. Failing that, it's probably easier to see your Dr. Good luck.

You could but a simple cheap microscope and look at a sample of your semen. If you don't see anything, get worried. If you see some there is a certain number there needs to be in a given area to be effectively fertile. You determine the sperm count that way. What an awful childhood. I'm so sorry!

Those"at home"tests really won't tell you much. Yes, you can buy them and what they will tell you is worthless. It will let you know if you have high enough sperm count, but what it fails to tell you is if they are even ALIVE, swimming, or abnormal in shape. A urologist or even your wife's gynecologist can order a sperm analysis. You can stay at home, do your business, and your wife can run the sample to the lab to be tested. No doctor necessary for your part. The doctor will then give the results to your wife. It requires no face time with a doctor on your part.Alot of men feel like getting a poor result is a blow to their manhood, but these doctors see this all the time. This is their profession and specialty even. Please don't be embarrassed...it can cause alot of heartache to NOT know what's wrong...
