Default Lack of Sexual Interest – 09-02-2011, 10:52 PM

I have been married 18 years and from the beginning my husband has not been interested in having sex with me. We waited until we were married before we were together so I was unaware of his lack of interest. I was not a virgin when we got married but he was. My question is at 43 is it normal for my sex drive to be through the roof?? And since it is and he has no interest how do I curb my appetite. And when I say no interest I mean once a year is good with him. I am growing more and more frustrated at the rejection and lack of interest. I was able to keep my mind off of it when my kids were younger but as they are older and my interests begin to surface more I find it more difficult to not want to be physical. I am not over weight and not unattractive to look at. I am not unkind or belittling. For many years I thought it was me but now I know it is not and I dont know what to do. Divorce has crossed my mind. But, really wonder if that is a good enough reason to call it quits. I need some input here please…..

You don’t need to revolutionize your life completely, but it’s easy to take some steps to make things more exciting: go out more, do more diverse things, go on a romantic weekend together, learn a few new tricks in the bedroom, explore your fantasies, and make more time together.

This condition is sometimes referred to as andropause and comes with symptoms that include loss of energy, depressive symptoms and low sex drive. If you’re concerned about loss of sex drive ┬ù especially if the loss happened abruptly ┬ù consult your doctor. Once any underlying factors are identified, your doctor can suggest appropriate treatment options.
