I have lupus, the rheumatoid arthritis kind and I have no health insurance anymore. I ran out of the medication that I was on and are having problems. I had a seizure and are having chest and sharp body pains. Also, does anyone have lupus and take a medication prescribed by their doctor that helps and prevents from seizures and keeps the joints from turning?

Unless you are terminally ill, you will be able to find private health care insurance. The problem for you is that it will likely be expensive. Ask your Doctor if he/she knows of any kind of private organizations (Similar to the AARP concept) that offer group insurance. Your State may offer something like this for small business people and the like.

When in a group, health care costs are much cheaper than if you have an individual private policy. As a base line - I had private insurance for 4 years or so, and it cost me around $6,500 per year for single coverage. Each year the policy cost jumped from 15% to 20% and I have had no major illness,

If health care costs are you preeminent concern and you are able to work, you may want to start applying for State or Federal jobs in your area. Pay usually stinks, but health care coverage is usually pretty good. Just an idea.....

Good luck my friend.....

I understand that all over Europe, people have demanded of their government, since way back, the dignity that comes with universal heartily coverage. In Europe, you'd have coverage. In Europe, we wouldn't be worried about our using the insurance making us ineligible for future insurance.

Our best bet is to constantly harass congress and the white house until we get universal health care.

I've been disgusted since I dropped all my cash this weekend into a jar in a little country store - they were collecting for cancer surgery for their boss!!! I was happy to give, but disgusted at the system we've allowed to be foisted on us in this country.

BTW, my cousin had lupus and I know you have a terribly illness. Can social security or medicaid be of help to you?

I'll call congress again on Monday. You do it, too. Everyone reading here. We know we have the billions, we've been wasting 2 or 3 a week in Iraq.

Hi honey. I am just getting ready to leave and I can not answer your question with all the details that it deserves but I want to tell you that I have Lupus also. You will not be able to get ordinary insurance anymore. No one is going to give it to you unless you can get in on a group policy, like if you are able to work.
I am disabled due to the Lupus and cannot work anymore.
There is insurance available Thur most states. I do not know where you live but I am sure that all states offer it. It is for people who have a major disease like SLE, cancer or heart disease. My insurance covers virtually everything, all my medications and everything. I see several specialists and would not be able to afford it if it were not for my insurance.
You can write to me for more information or I will look up your name and see if I can write to you when I get back.
Take care. I know how hard it is living with Lupus but it is not the end of the world.
I hope to be able to talk to you later.
Blessings
Lady T~
