can you get lyme's disease from spiders?

Default can you get lyme's disease from spiders? - 11-09-2008, 10:19 PM

my friend tried to tell us that she contracted Lyme's disease from a spider...i thought you could only get it from deer ticks

Yes you can but it's rare.

typically Lyme is spread by a tick bite. However, the bulls-eye rash that sometimes results from that is often mistaken for a spider bite.

Spiders are not known to transfer such diseases.
A number of other insects and arachnids can.
Lyme disease from a bite is usually from ticks or mosquitoes.
