Default If i have a 6 week menstrual cycle, is it likely I will get menopause later...? - 08-28-2008, 10:42 PM

I'm 16 but i have an irregular cycle. Yet for the last 12 months it's been every six weeks. does this mean that, because eggs are being released more slowly, that I will get menopause later than usual people?

No, the woman's body contains hundreds of thousands of eggs, most of which are never released. Your period has nothing to do with when you will go through menopause.

No. You don't go through menopause because you've ovulated all of your eggs. You go through menopause because your eggs have a much shorter lifespan than you do, and age and die by the time they're around 50. They'll age whether you use them or not because the important factor is time, not how you use them.
