Default Hi, Im going through my menopause.? - 12-07-2008, 09:13 PM

Hi Im going through my menopause, Im 49 and I can cope with most of the symptoms. But my anxiety levels are through the roof, I worry all the time. Take for example I have got to go the doctors on Friday for a routine check up but I can't stop thinking and worrying about it. If somebody says " should we go for Coffee " I panic like crazy.... can anyone put any light on this, is this normal?

Thanks Kay

Kay,

I understand completely what you're going through. I too am going through it and I'm only 45. It started when I was 38!

Talk to your doctor about Welbutrin XL. I take it and it's been doing wonders. If your doctor offers Prozac turn it down! Prozac can make you do things you'd never have done without it.

Good luck!

That's rough. Some women use progesterone cream as a way to calm them down from the anxiety. You might want to check that out. They sell it at compounding pharmacies. It can help you through this transition time. Alternatively, you could try out some antidepressants for awhile--they make menopausal symptoms easier. Ignore the person who said to take Wellbutrin but to avoid Prozac. That is THAT person's unique response to those medications. Everyone is different. It's possible you'll be the same as her, but it's also possible that you'll be different and find that Prozac or a similar drug to Prozac does agree with you. Be sure to see a psychiatrist to get those drugs--there are SO many anti-depressants out there, and responses to them by people are so different that only a psychiatrist, who pretty much exclusively prescribes these drugs and has seen probably thousands of different patients, can help you to get the right drug. Your regular doctor doesn't prescribe them nearly as often or to nearly as many people, and just doesn't have the knowledge to determine these things.

lack of estrogen for the receptors in the brain causes this symptom. I started bio identical and they were great at stopping menopausal symptoms.

Hi, Kay - I hear you. I had the same problem. Initially my doctor put me HRT - but my experience with that is that it made everything worse. The thing that helped me most with anxiety was meditation and simple breathing exercises. Yoga is excellent too!

Wow! I never went through all that. For me it was just annoying hot flashes that were hard to take.

I did find that I needed to take care of my liver to reduce the symptoms of menopause... that would probably apply to you too. I used milk thistle every day. It really helped. I started noticing the difference after about a month.

It is better to see a specialist who is already an expert in that problem. However, we can find treatment for manopause everywhere if we just search for it. Treatment for menopause that you desire depends upon the symptoms you encounter. Personal choice likewise has a part along with any pre-existing health condition you might have. You cannot just go to a local drugstore and purchase pain relievers. Because little did you realize, the cure you may be desiring can only be provided by men and women special to you.
