Default Menopause, period came back? - 03-31-2010, 10:18 PM

I took hormone tablets (Femoston) for 16 days, as i had recently taken a blood test and my periods had stopped. So i was currently on Menopause, until today when i started my period..
Is this normal? Does this usually happen? Should i see my doctor straight away?

thanks so much. any knowledge on this subject is appreciated.

Menopause can take several years. While going through menopause you may go several months with out a period and then get one. You have not fully gone through menopause until you have gone a solid year with no periods

If your period came back, then you're most likely not menopausal. Your period has to be gone for at least a year to be considered menopause.

But yes, if you're worried about it, you can always go see your doctor to make sure nothing is wrong.

It's the hormone tablets that caused the bleeding. That's part of the normal, expected function of the pills. So it's no surprise that you have been bleeding. It will cause bleeding every month as long as you take it. You are still in menopause, and your period did not come back.

I had a full blown period after a year of not even so much as spotting. My doctor said it can happen - but to be safe I would check in with your doc.

Is it a full on period? Or just a light flow? Light flow and spotting is normal when you are going through Menopause so don't worry. That happens to my mom and she's going through menopause so it's normal.

If it's a heavy or regular period then you should go see you doctor in a few days. Just wait it out and if it lasts longer than 3 days then see a doctor, just to be on the safe side.
