Default What are the chances of miscarriage after detecting a heartbeat? - 12-17-2008, 08:46 AM

My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage @ 5 weeks and 2 days. Now I am exactly 10 weeks pregnant. I had an ultrasound @ 9 weeks and we saw the heartbeat and everything. My doctor says everything is right on target but I still worry. What are the chances of having a miscarriage @ this point? I haven't had any bleeding or anything. I have a lot of twinges and soreness in my abdomen but thats all. Thanks for any input.

Aw, I'm sorry about your miscarriage. It's understandable for you to be scared, but I wouldn't worry. A miscarriage as early as you had one (5 weeks) usually means that the egg didn't implant itself correctly, this pregnancy it seems like it has. Good luck to you!

Less than 5%! Don't worry (hard, I know). You're going to be fine!

My doctor say that the chances of miscarriage are drastically reduced after the 10 week mark. I am 7 weeks so I totally understand how you feel, but you should be pretty good at the point. Just take care of yourself!

you chance of miscarrage at the bigining of a pregnancy is 25%but after 8 weeks along it goes down to about 15%and if you already had an u/s and everything is well ( most ppl dont have utrasounds at 8/9 weeks)then your risk is about 5%congrats :]

Just the same as if you didn't here it yet.I think though that you will be ok and are pretty much in the safe zone.I also have had a miscarriage but mine was at 7 weeks and we never got to hear the heartbeat. It was sad.I'm now 34 weeks pregnant with a little boy.I think your luck will be as good as mine and you will have a fine pregnancy.
