Default Health insurance for a student with Multiple Sclerosis? - 12-28-2008, 03:45 AM

Does anyone have any information on finding health insurance for a currently uninsured college student with Multiple Sclerosis? A friend of mine has been without medication for six months after losing his insurance and since it costs roughly $1500 a month it is impossible to earn that money on the side while attending college. Any help would be greatly appreciated! The college he is attending does have an insurance plan, but it only covers around $300 of the medication so it doesn't do much good, sadly.

I don't know what the situation is, but usually schools offer student insurance at decent prices. Because he has been without insurance for six months, the new insurance probably won't cover a"pre-existing condition"for the first three months, but after that, it should be covered. Look into this -- if it's a university, ask around there. There might also be advice on a national MS organization Web page (?).
