The latest theory is anything above 5 is high, did you have this taken at the Doctors? they will have advised as to how to reduce your level. It is normally lowered by diet and exercises, and weight, diet as in cutting out height saturated fat foods, and regular exercises, if you are doing this already and are not overweight, your Doctor may advise taking stat in drugs, these reduce cholesterol levels.

Optimum cholesterol level is less than 5 Mil/L. Reduce cholesterol level by diet, exercise and stat in drugs.
Adopt DASH diet (The Mediterranean diet). Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet, which includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish, vegetables, poultry, and egg whites. Use monounsaturated oils such as olive, peanut, and canola oils or polyunsaturated oils such as corn, safflower, soy, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oils. Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods.

If your high total cholesterol level is accompanied by high levels of oxidized LDL, small LDL particle sizes and elevated triglycerides, you should panic like hell and mind your consumption of refined carbohydrates and linoleum acid.

If it is not accompanied by the above-mentioned things, you shouldn’t excrete too many stress hormones about it.

You really need to look at the complete lipid profile, however target cholesterol is ? 5 mm oles. On average even with diet and exercise the average person can only maintain a cholesterol reduction of around 10%, even with diet and regular vigorous exercise. This would still leave you above 6 mm oles. If you have additional risk factors medication may be indicated.

One of the most well known low cholesterol foods is oatmeal. If you are looking for a food which is not only tasty, but that will also give you a jumpstart in the morning, then oatmeal is a great choice for you. It contains something called beta-glucan, which is well known for reducing cholesterol levels, and eating oats increases the soluble fiber in your diet, which is also important. Try finding more sites that are dedicated to how to lower cholesterol .
