Which division of the human nervous system carries signals to the skeletal muscle?

I think it's the peripheral nervous system. But is it the somatic portion of it?Please be as specific as possible.

yes, it's the somatic portion. The somatic nervous system controls skeletal muscle as well as external sensory organs such as the skin.
