As the first poster said, it depends. According my doctor who was speaking in general terms, it is progressive. That's why so many women are now being diagnosed when it was virtually unheard of before, outside of simply a lack of knowledge.Women were marrying by 18 or their earlier 20's and having their children right away. The disorder did not affect them as much since they were younger. Now, as women wait to have children, many discover to their dismay that they can't conceive and are diagnosed. There is hope. I was told in May 2006 that I wouldn't have children, started treatment (including birth control), and was pregnant by November. When my son was five months old, I conceived the daughter that I am now carrying. She was conceived the first try after my starting back on my Metformin.
