Default Schizophrenia - is repetitive behaviours any kind of element of schizophrenia or not? - 05-09-2008, 10:23 PM

It's just that I've two close friends that have schizophrenia. I've noticed that whereas people may change or try to act differently time to time, my friends seem to stick to the same phrases over and over again when talking like very simplistic stuff like 'how are you' 'what are you up to' but, .. i know people can generally be repetitive but I've noticed it's more of a consistent/on-going thing with these friends. I dunno. Maybe it's just a characteristic anybody can have and it's mere coincidence that they both have schizophrenia, I'm not sure. It's just an odd behavior that I can't fully describe, that I only seem to have found in these two individuals to the extent that they go : / i dint know. I'm also not too familiar with schizophrenia so i do not mean to be generalizing here just questioning
what were they like, ladybug? i kinda like one of them : /

what were the bad times like then?

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that makes it difficult to tell the difference between real and unreal experiences, to think logically, to have normal emotional responses, and to behave normally in social situations.
So it really doesn't have anything to do with what you say they're doing.

No, schizophrenia is classified as a disorder that affects a person's perceptions... or an "alternate reality," if you will. It means that they experience things, such as physically hearing/seeing things that do not exist, or seeing patterns or concepts or "hidden messages" that do not exist, etc. I don't believe that what you are talking about has anything to do with schizophrenia, if anything, it may just be something you noticed in these two people. I highly doubt that has anything to do with their schizophrenia.
