Default SCHIZOPHRENIA/BIPOLAR/PSYCHOSIS Can somebody give me some examples of delusions and h - 02-17-2010, 09:38 PM

I need some examples of hallucinations (like different things people might see) and examples of delusions (examples of the way a schizophrenic might think and what sort of different delusions they may have) please give the wackiest possible but serious ones. This is a serious question. Not trolling I swear. I myself am not schizophrenic. I have COD and anxiety and depression and my doc suspects bipolar without psychotic symptoms. I am writing a book with the main character as being a schizophrenic and she's going to have a different array of hallucinations and delusions. Also if possible give the names of the delusion next to the example if you know it. E.G.. delusion of reference or grandeur ETC.. if you don't know name then don't worry. It's fine. All help a million % appreciated. Genuine replies only please and especially appreciated from ACTUAL schizophrenics/people with psychosis! Thank you so much! Julieanna! xxxix

Well my granny (RIP 93), was schizophrenic. She would throw her clothes out of the window, she would run down the road naked, she would call the EM's because she lost her clothes. It was terrible. If I knew why you were asking I'd tell you more.

A delusion could be that the FBI is tapping their phones and lets say joggers, were spying on them and their radios or pods, were radio transmitters that stole you're thoughts.

There are several types of hallucinations, visual, auditory, olfactory and tactile.
Visual hallucinations look as real as anything you can see now, and are usually negative and scary.
Auditory hallucinations can sound like somebody standing next to you, whispering in your ear. These are commonly referred to as 'voices' and their usually negative as well.
Olfacotry hallucinations could be constantly smelling things that aren't there like hairspray, apple pie, etc.
Tactile hallucinations is feeling things that aren't there like people touching you etc.

I hope that before you begin writing this, you realize that Schizophrenia isn't dissociativevidentity disorder.
Which is also known as multiple personality disorder. People with Schizophrenia do not have multiple personalities or 'split' personalities.
They have psychosis, but considering that there are several different types of Schizophrenia, it'd depend on which one you were talking about.

When I am suffering from psychosis, the common recurring theme is that I am an field agent in a sleeper cell for the FSB (Federal security service Russian federation). I receive embedded messages from newspapers, on line media and TV giving me instructions for certain tasks. I am aware that I am being followed by MI5 and that they are just waiting for me to trip up and get banged away in their secret prisons. I also hear voices but I don't think they are connected to my delusions. I had my first psychotic episode when I was 16, I am now 36. Because I am pretty much stable on my melds, my delusions and paranoia are greatly reduced.

My uncle thinks that it's the electrical wiring and gas lines in buildings that make him sick so he lives in an abandoned cabin in the woods (seriously). I thought I could cure world hunger if I could buy enough toasters and take them to Africa..... It's not enough to just know what he delusion is... when delusional there is reasoning behind the delusion..... As for hallucinations... anything that the imagination can imagine... people, bugs, flying through the universe, falling into a black hole and coming out in a new universe, bleeding angels dripping from your ceiling, demonic dogs attacking you.... flowers, voices, any noises, smells.... I have had food smell like sewage or gas smell like perfume... touch... you can feel things crawling on you or touching you or hurting you.... Literally it could be anything the imagination could possible imagine.
