Default is schizophrenia dangerous? - 04-28-2008, 10:58 PM

I know a person who I guess is a schizophrenic. He is about 17-18 years old! he studies in my school.
I'm wondering if people with schizophrenia are dangerous! I know that they might hurt themselves and suicide is common among them and I know people with paranoid are dangerous to others. But can you give me more information about it?Is he dangerous or not.Me and my friends usually stare at him and I think he is suspicious.we are stalking him!

they can be very very dangerous but that doesn't make them a bad person. You could be talking to him happily, and he could suddenly switch in to a very dark mode and be a completely different person. People have been known to not remember their other personality killing people.

Yes, the disease is dangerous, and an untreated schizophrenic can be dangerous, however, most medicated schizophrenics live fairly normal lives. But if he is an untreated schizophrenic, he could have a tendency toward paranoia, so the LAST thing you want to do is stalk him and let him know you're doing it. If you're really worried, tell an adult. Otherwise, stop looking for trouble, because it doesn't need help finding you.

Give him his space, show respect and dint stalk him especially like right in front of his face( exaggerated). He is a human being like any other.

However, he may be dangerous. With schizophrenia, they see things that are not there, as well as hear things. It makes them crazy, those voices may be evil and say to kill somebody.

Watch this, its a real schizophrenic. Hope you understand schizophrenia.

P.S. Noeyed Dear's answer sounds more like bipolarity, which is pretty different.

It sounds more like you and your friends are schizophrenic and paranoid. Why are you staring at him.

Okay, one, people looking at this and thinking we're childish little dolts, WE ARE NOT. WE ARE WONDERING ABOUT A MEDICAL CONDITION IN CASE IT MAY HURT US OR OTHER PEOPLE. WHY IS THAT WRONG. AND I AM THE ONLY ONE OF US PARANOID. LEAVE PARDIS ALONE!! Okay, caps abuse is over. Pardis, you know my answer. Other, POLITE people, thank you for your help.

A very small percentage of unmediated schizophrenics behave violently; the rest of them are no more likely than anyone else to act out or be dangerous. You "guess" this person is a schizophrenic. I think you are probably making an erroneous judgment and have the potential to do a lot of harm. Unless you actually know this person's diagnosis, you should stop staring at him and making up stories about what he might or might not do.
