NOT necessarily for sexual gratification as in masochism but for the same reasons people self-injure.

Sadism and masochism are being widely known for pleasure from pain of another, not just in sexual situations, but all the time. The true deffinition is sexual gratification including blood/pain, and is considered a fetish, but people are beginning to recognize it for all around"desires of pain from another". =[[

macochism is not only for sexual gratification u can use it in the context u described

pain is strongly associated to the gratification areas in the brain, even without s/m. love almost always creates an amount of painful sensations with it; this is part of the conditio humana I guess
