Default When is your child at a lower of risk for SIDS? - 01-05-2009, 09:08 PM

I have a 6 month old daughter who loves to sleep. From the first night I brought her home from the hospital she slept for six hours straight, now at 6 months she sleeps through the night. My fear is one morning I'm going to wake up and find her dead. I know that sounds wierd, and paranoid, but she means the world to me and I have heard a lot of horror stories about Sudden Infant Death Sydrom (SIDS). She rolls over on her stomach to sleep now too even though I put her on her back like pediatricians say to do. If I try to roll her back she wakes up and starts crying. Is she at a lower risk now that she's 6 mos, or do I still need to be worried that I might wake up and find her dead? Please help!

i think after 6 months the chances are really subsiding, try to worry less, there is not much you can do to prevent that sort of thing, best of luck to you!

If your daughter can roll over her chances of getting SIDS has drastically declined.

don't worry at 6 months she can move her self and lift up her headjust make sure there isn't anything in the crib, and not too many blankets to get tangled up inand she will be fineand don't move her , she likes it like that leave her alone.Megmom of 3 boys and expecting again

I'd suggest not putting toys, pillows or blankets in the crib with her. If its chilly put warmer clothes on her. I think just a fitted sheet will do.
