Default what vaccinations should i have if i work in the dental field? - 01-16-2009, 02:57 AM

i'm going to finish dental assisting school in 3 months and i want to know what vaccinations should i get?i know about the flu shot every year and i already got the hep b shot like 9 years ago. i went to the doctor to make sure that my antibodies are still working against hep b, but i'm still waiting on my results...any other shots?thanks.

I think you mostly need hepatitis b immunization, otherwise you're ok.

Talk to your doctor or better yet your dentist. Your school counselor should know this too.

I would think you need to be up to date on your tetanus too.Also there are more than 1 shot to hep b.There's the initial shot and then I think it's like 6 weeks after the first.There may be a third but I'm not sure.To know for sure I would just find out what the specifics are but I'm surprised your school didn't tell you.They may very from state to state too.By the way it takes 2-3 weeks for your DNA to come back from the lab before your doctor will know,but once you have the hep b antibody's make sure you tell all medical or dental people applicable so they know.
