What are the good things about mental illness?

Default What are the good things about mental illness? – 01-01-2009, 09:14 PM

Everything has a positive and negative side. I am training as a Medical Assistant, and hope to work for a Mental health clinic, or Psychiatrist.Tell me what your diagnosis is(if u want) and the benfits of your illness or disorder.

Well, different from everyone else. That is how I see it. My emotional highs provide me with lots of fun time. I find everything great and I can be occupied for hours on one thing.The downside is pretty bad. Very bad depression and all that comes with very bad depression.

a psychiatrist once diagnosed me with anxiety, but then my doctor told me I didn’t really have it. I think there’s no benefit to it, it’s just stigmatizing and ruins people’s self esteem to be told there’s something wrong with their minds. That’s how I felt.

Well there are a lot of thing which are helpful in mental illness. As from my opinion the most thing which effect is more is the change of envoirnment. yes it effect alot on mental illness. because when we change the envoirnment and the place of living then you also get rid of various problems which torcher your brain.

I guess I would say the good thing about mental illness is it is a big wake up call that there is something in your life you aren’t dealing with. Our mental illness can help us to face the things that we aren’t dealing with.

Honestly, I feel most things classified as "mental disorders" aren’t really at all.

Stress is one of the main causes of poor mental health. When you’re stressed, your body has to work harder to keep and overtime, it takes its toll on your body and your brain. The next time something stressful happens, try lighting some candles and taking a bath. If that’s not working for you, try to let off steam by going to the gym or go for a run.

I don’t know about any benefits of mental illness other than feeling different from the world and thinking in a different way. Person feels relaxed and can enjoy that moment in any manner.
